We went on another camping trip to Golden Gate Canyon State Park this summer and had lots of fun! We hiked along the Raccoon Trail, fished at a small lake, and made LOTS of s'mores. Harrison and Declan also spent a lot of time riding their bike and scooter all over the campsite. We saw plenty of flowers and wildlife and soaked up the tranquility of the outdoors.
"We're ready to camp!"
One of the best parts about camping is making s'mores!
This is Panorama Point. We hiked partway to this lookout on the first day, but had to turn around because of rain. So, we drove there the next day to check out the views.
The view from the lookout area at Panorama Point.
Fishing at a small lake that was near the camping area.
Oh, the faces we can make when waiting for a fish to bite.
Unfortunately, the only thing we caught was this crawfish.
At the fishing lake.
Smore's. Round 2 (or maybe it was Round 3).
On the first day, we hiked quite a while on Raccoon Trail, but didn't make it to Panorama Point. However, Kevin got up early the next two mornings and hiked up and back before anyone was awake!
Along the trail.
These cute little ground squirrels were scurrying all over the campground.
On the way home, we made a short stop in Nederland; and Harrison and Declan couldn't resist playing on the old train cars! So many happy memories made.
