Revisiting Iceland - April 2014

My second adventure to Iceland was every bit as exciting as the first! This time I was able to see and do some new things. We went horseback riding outside of Reykjavik on the beautiful Icelandic horses and visited the Snaefellsnes peninsula on the west coast of Iceland. We also revisited the Golden Circle, tried traditional Icelandic food (or at least attempted to try it...the mashed fish on rye and rye bread ice cream were all I could stomach). We found some new places to explore in Reykjavik and ended our journey at the Blue Lagoon. My favorite meal was at a tiny stone house clinging to a cliff on the Snaefellsnes peninsula, where we stopped for a homemade Icelandic lunch. The tiny restaurant only seated about 16 people and everyone had the same meal...freshly made seafood chowder, homemade bread, and fresh waffles with whipped cream and rhubarb jam. Yummy! These pictures don't come close to showing everything we saw, but it's a good start.

My horse....his name was Eldur (meaning 'Fire').

All but the last of these photos were taken at the Snaefellsnes Peninsula on the west coast.

We ended our trip with a stop at The Blue Lagoon on our way to the airport.
