A Beautiful Spring Day - 3/30/14

The weather today was perfect! We spent all morning at the park and all afternoon at the Science Museum. After several hours in the museum, Harrison and Declan had to take some time to enjoy the sunshine, sculptures, and rocks.

"The Jungle Lady" - 3/30/14

As part of a Spring Break Series, the Science Museum had "The Jungle Lady" give presentations with live animals. We saw the very last show today, which included snakes, lizards, turtles, and tortoises. Harrison said his favorite part was touching the python. Declan did touch the python, but based on the look on his face you wouldn't have thought he was going to do it!

An older tortoise giving a baby tortoise a ride.

A baby boa constrictor!

A milk snake and a very cute chameleon.

 A very cute little monkey.

An albino burmese python, named 'Sunny'.
Sunny weighed 48 pounds and will still double in size.

All the kids were allowed to touch the python and the tortoise. When Harrison and Declan reached the front of the line and came face-to-face with the python, they had second thoughts! But, they both went ahead and checked it out.

Harrison was very happy with his new tortoise friend...

 ...but, Declan was not.

He was even less pleased AFTER he touch it!

Maybe we'll stay out of the jungle tomorrow and just color some Easter Eggs.

Easter Egg Decorating Class - 3/29/14

This morning, we went to another 'Kid's Cooking Class' at William's-Sonoma. This time the kids got to color Easter eggs! Harrison and Declan had a blast dunking their eggs in different colors and using rubber bands to make stripes. The teachers even handed out Easter cookies during class in case anyone worked up an appetite.

They did a fabulous job and the eggs turned out great! Unfortunately, they both got dropped in the mall. Oh well, we may not have made it home with any colored eggs, but it's a good reason to make more!

Clowning Around - 3/25/14

Declan and Harrison (mostly Declan) wanted their pictures taken the other day while they were acting silly...so I obliged. Declan can be quite a little ham for the camera when he is in the mood.

The Happy Box - 3/21/14

Sometimes I wonder why we even buy toys, when kids can come up with such creative ideas with just a box. Declan added a nose to his box after I took this picture, and it's much cuter than the smiley face I drew!

Harrison's Movie Date - 3/20/14

Yesterday, I took Harrison and his favorite friend from preschool, Lydia, on a movie play date to see 'Mr. Peabody and Sherman'. They were so cute! And, yes, they did eat all of that popcorn!

LEGO Harrison and LEGO Declan - 3/14/14

A friend of mine is a professional photographer and was making a LEGO figure of each member of her family as a photo project for her kids' bedrooms. Since she had her studio all set up to photograph LEGOs, she offered to take pictures for Harrison and Declan if I created the mini-figures of them. Below, we have LEGO Harrison with his bike, a smiling face, and an ice cream cone. And, LEGO Declan has his scooter (a skate board was the closest I could get), a cheese pizza, and a mischievous little face!

The Funny Farm - 3/8/14

We had a 'hands-on' funny farm at our house this morning! I tattooed all of Declan's fingers, and one of Harrison's fingers, with some farm animal tattoos. Declan was very happy and posed excitedly to have his picture taken, only to decide a few minutes later that they were too "snazzy". I asked him if he didn't like the tattoos and he said, "no, they are too snazzy". He then proceeded to pick off every single one and wash his hands until they were gone. Apparently, he's not into anything snazzy!

"Lyle the Crocodile" - 3/1/14

Today, we braved the ice and snow to see 'Lyle the Crocodile' at the Arvada Children's Theatre! It was a cute show and Harrison loved it!! The tap dancing crocodile was an especially bit hit. Declan behaved through the whole show, but his interest basically shifted ten minutes in from watching to wanting a snack. Sounds about right, I guess.
