County Fair Coloring Contest - 7/30/14

Today, I noticed that the Adams County Fair was having a coloring contest and displaying all the entries on Friday. Harrison and Declan were very excited to enter and got to work! They both did an excellent job, but unfortunately the entries were due last week and I didn't notice that until they were finished coloring. I scanned and emailed their pictures anyway asking if they could just hang them up at the fair. We'll see!
Then we went for ice cream, so they got a little prize anyway!

Yes, Declan spent a little time coloring his face.

Harrison was 'all business' with his coloring project.

 I love Harrison's cow! What a smile!!

I don't think Declan's color choices could get much more creative!

"No, We're Not Camera Shy!" - 7/28/14

Harrison and Declan were getting bored with their activities outside today, so one of them grabbed my camera and the photo shoot commenced! Harrison must have made 50 different faces for the camera.

The Teddy Bear Care Fair - 7/27/14

Today was the first annual 'Teddy Bear Care Fair' at the Denver Zoo! It's basically a health fair for every little kid's favorite stuffed animal. They had an admissions station where vitals were taken and everyone received a small stuffed version of the zoo's new mascot, 'Elbert'; then there were six more stations inside the zoo for dental health, x-rays and casts, nutrition, and so on. There were also lots of professional sports mascots walking around to greet the kids. It was very cute and lots of fun!

 Elbert meets Fuzzy!

 The Admissions Station.
Each fuzzy friend had their weight, temperature and blood pressure taken.

 Fuzzy doesn't have any cavities!

This is Elbert! He is the zoo's new mascot.

Harrison got to meet the pachyderm zookeeper, Dave Johnson, and even got an autographed book personalized especially for him.

Time for x-rays. Uh-oh! Fuzzy and "B" have some broken bones.

Camping Trip - 7/14 to 7/16/14

We went on another camping trip to Golden Gate Canyon State Park this summer and had lots of fun! We hiked along the Raccoon Trail, fished at a small lake, and made LOTS of s'mores. Harrison and Declan also spent a lot of time riding their bike and scooter all over the campsite. We saw plenty of flowers and wildlife and soaked up the tranquility of the outdoors.

 "We're ready to camp!"

One of the best parts about camping is making s'mores!

This is Panorama Point. We hiked partway to this lookout on the first day, but had to turn around because of rain. So, we drove there the next day to check out the views.

The view from the lookout area at Panorama Point.

Fishing at a small lake that was near the camping area.

Oh, the faces we can make when waiting for a fish to bite.

Unfortunately, the only thing we caught was this crawfish.

 At the fishing lake.

Smore's. Round 2 (or maybe it was Round 3).

On the first day, we hiked quite a while on Raccoon Trail, but didn't make it to Panorama Point. However, Kevin got up early the next two mornings and hiked up and back before anyone was awake!

 Along the trail.

These cute little ground squirrels were scurrying all over the campground.

On the way home, we made a short stop in Nederland; and Harrison and Declan couldn't resist playing on the old train cars! So many happy memories made.
