Mammoths and Mastodons - 3/2/13

 We spent today at the Denver Nature and Science Museum, so Harrison could attend a day camp for preschoolers. The camp had an Ice Age theme to go along with the museum's current exhibit, "Mammoths and Mastodons: Titans of the Ice Age". During camp, he got to visit the special exhibit, go on a 'dig', make an Ice Age coloring book, create some artwork, and learn a lot about the Ice Age. He had lots of fun! This is him on his way into camp with his sack lunch.

 Harrison was immediately absorbed in the coloring activity they had ready to go while waiting for all the kids to arrive. He didn't even hear me trying to say good-bye to him...from 12 inches away...multiple times!

 So, while Harrison was enjoying his day camp, Declan and I spent the day exploring the museum together. First, we checked out the Ice Age exhibit ourselves. Check-out how tiny Declan looks next to this mammoth!

 There were a lot of neat things for kids in the exhibit. Declan really liked this spot where you could pull the lever and 'grow' a mammoth tusk. He also got a cute mammoth hat that he liked!

Ready to go home, with a new friend (Snowy)...and lots of new knowledge.

Winter Fun! 2/25/13

The sun came out this morning and we headed outside to play in the snow!!

 We got lucky and found some big chunks of snow for our snowman and Declan found some little snowballs to help build 'Frosty'.

 The neighbors' dog escaped their backyard just as we finished our snowman and ate the carrot buttons right out of Frosty's tummy! Declan was not impressedwith that turn of events.

 What could be better after playing outside in the snow than a warm cup of hot chocolate and Oreos?

 Mmmmm....good to the last drop!

Snow Day - 2/24/13

It snowed, and snowed, and snowed ALL DAY today!! So, we stayed inside and found lots of things to do. Funny though, the only thing I forgot to take a picture of was the snow! 

 First thing this morning, we excavated a sting ray!

Then, the building began...cars made out of Magformers

 ...an entire village constructed of Legos

 ...and a log cabin, built to house a black panther and a sting ray

 We made popcorn for an afternoon snack.

 Then, pancakes for dinner!

 Declan has recently discovered that he really likes bacon!

After dinner, Harrison drew us an elephant!

We did LOTS of other things, too, and had a great time together inside by the fire.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!

Harrison and Declan got a free portrait taken at the Children's Museum a few weeks ago and the photographer gave everyone a free online image and photo magnet. Pretty good deal! She is also the photographer that wanted to enter Harrison in the charity model contest.

WOW! Children's Museum - 2/2/13

We spent this morning at the WOW! Children's Museum and had lots of pirate fun!! There were pirate costumes and pirate maps to be made, face painting, free photos for Valentine's Day, and lots of other fun things to do!!!
